The RMWBH team of attorneys is composed of some of Texas’ foremost leaders in their chosen field of practice. On no team is that more evident than the RMWBH Real Estate team. One of the standout members of the team is Lisa Gambrell. Lisa is approaching three decades of service to RMWBH clients, and in that time, she has seen a lot of change in the Texas real estate landscape. We recently sat down with Lisa to discuss her career, the successes and challenges she has had and what she sees for the future of real estate development.
Lisa has built her career working with residential and commercial real estate developers throughout Texas that develop communities. These unique developments have varied from as small as three homes to large mixed-use developments planned for over 15,000 homes upon completion. Among the countless developments Lisa has worked with, there are a few that stand out to her because of the challenges they present. As she stated, “while each development is unique, I have particularly enjoyed working with the Cross Creek Ranch, Austin Point, Thomas Ranch, and Double L Ranch developments in light of their unique geography, amenities, and master plans.”
Lisa’s focus on real estate law happened almost from the very beginning. As a new associate, she was given the opportunity to attend a meeting with a large-scale real estate developer and became hooked on real estate law. “I was fascinated by the positive nature of this type of work and the idea of building tangible, beautiful places for people to live and work in for years to come,” Lisa said.
That passion has continued through to today where Lisa strives to continue creating straightforward legal and practical frameworks for each development she serves. Her objective is for these frameworks to serve as a platform for simple day-to-day operational approaches for both the developer and property owners association serving the development. “My goal is to be an invaluable and indispensable part of each developer’s project and to assist them with carrying out their vision for the development,” Lisa said.
In addition to being indispensable and invaluable to clients, Lisa is indispensable and invaluable to her team members at RMWBH. As a result of her many contributions to both clients and the firm, RMWBH named Lisa as a Shareholder effective, October 2, 2023.
While Lisa is enjoying the present, she cannot help but look to the future on how RMWBH can continue to serve clients and where the real estate industry is going as a whole.
As a full-service civil law firm, Lisa feels the clients benefit from the knowledge and experience RMWBH’s attorneys bring from their different areas of expertise. As she points out, “many developments are constructed over several decades and may face questions that are related to corporate governance, litigation, large service agreements and best practices from a developer or association perspective. We work together as a team in order to provide our clients with unparalleled expertise.”
That expertise Lisa feels is set for the future and will help her evolve along with the real estate development industry. “In my 26 years of practice, I have learned that everything evolves with time. Land uses and best practices for developing are no exception, and I am looking forward to evolving with our clients as new ways to plan and develop communities unfold in the future.”
